For Bench refugees
Bench shut down December 2024. You don't have to re-outsource.

A Bench Accounting alternative that lets you keep your books.

Bench owned your ledger. When they closed, customers scrambled. ArnBooks works the other way: your QuickBooks Online stays the source of truth, and we layer on review, receipts, and an Ask interface that you control.

Diagnostic only. No accounting, tax, legal, or financial advice. Your QuickBooks file stays yours.

If Bench owned your books

ArnBooks works inside QuickBooks Online — the ledger you control. We don't hold your books hostage. We help you see what's in them.

  • You used Bench Accounting for monthly books and now need a continuity plan that doesn't require re-outsourcing your whole finance function.
  • You exported your Bench data, imported some of it into QuickBooks Online, and now have a file that feels half-built and unclear.
  • You want to keep ownership of your ledger this time, not hand it back to a closed-box service.
  • You need a fast diagnostic on the current state of your books before deciding whether to clean up yourself, hire a bookkeeper, or pay for a structured audit.

Bench vs ArnBooks

The structural difference: ownership of the ledger.

Dimension

Bench Accounting

ArnBooks

What it was / is

A full-service bookkeeping company. Bench owned the books, did the categorization, and produced monthly statements. The service shut down in December 2024.
Software that layers on your existing QuickBooks Online file. You keep ownership of the ledger. ArnBooks adds review, receipts, and an Ask interface on top.

Where the books live

Inside Bench's proprietary platform.
Inside your QuickBooks Online file — your existing ledger stays the source of truth.

What happens if the provider disappears

You lose access to the platform. Bench customers had to scramble to extract historical data after the December 2024 shutdown.
You keep your QBO file regardless. ArnBooks is a layer, not a replacement. The audit deliverable PDF is yours to keep forever.

Who categorizes transactions

Bench's bookkeepers, behind the scenes.
ArnBooks drafts categorizations with confidence scores. You approve before anything posts to QuickBooks.

Tax filing

Bench Tax was an add-on service.
Out of scope. ArnBooks delivers clean books; your CPA or accountant uses them to file.

Pricing

$299–$499/month for monthly books, more for catch-up and tax.
Solo launch: $99/month or $990/year for a month-end support workspace around your existing QuickBooks Online file.

Bench refugee path

From scrambled migration to clean visibility — three steps.

01

Run the free QBO Health Check

Connect your QuickBooks Online file (read-only). The Health Check inspects categorization clarity, recurring spend patterns, source coverage gaps, and review-candidate transactions.

02

See the diagnostic

Plain-English findings: what looks clean, what looks risky, what needs attention before month-end. No promises that AI will fix everything silently.

03

Decide the next move

Use the diagnostic to clean up yourself, brief your accountant, or decide whether Solo is the right ongoing support layer.

Common questions

Bench refugee questions, answered.

I'm a Bench refugee — what's the fastest first step?

Run the free QBO Health Check. It connects to QuickBooks Online (read-only), inspects the file you have today, and surfaces what looks unclear. From there you can decide whether to keep cleaning it up yourself, hire a bookkeeper, or start Solo for ongoing month-end support. No commitment.

Is ArnBooks a direct Bench replacement?

Not exactly. Bench was a full-service bookkeeping company — they owned the books and did the work. ArnBooks is a software layer on top of your existing QuickBooks Online file. You keep ownership of the ledger. We add review, receipts, and an Ask interface — we don't do the books for you behind a closed door.

What happened to Bench? Can I get my data back?

Bench announced its shutdown in December 2024. The platform stopped accepting new customers and Bench customers had a window to export their historical data. If you're still working through the migration, the QBO Health Check can help you understand what state your QuickBooks file is in after the import.

Do I need a CPA in addition to ArnBooks?

Yes, for tax filing. ArnBooks delivers clean books and visibility — your CPA or accountant uses those clean books to file taxes. ArnBooks does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice.

What does ArnBooks Solo include?

Solo includes month-end support around your existing QuickBooks Online file: issue lists, receipt review, subscription review, and plain-English context so you can keep your accountant or bookkeeper in the loop.
